A Friendraiser is a small, social gathering where supporters invite friends to learn about and support Urban Ministries of Wake County. We bring snacks and drinks, you invite your network, and we will all have a great time!

What is a Friendraiser?

  • A Friendraiser is a simple and fun way for our organization to meet new people in the community and share our mission. It’s a casual gathering where friends come together to learn more about the work we do and how they can get involved.

Where does the Friendraiser take place?

  • Friendraisers can be held anywhere that comfortably fits your invited guests. Many hosts choose to use their home, while others prefer a public space such as a community room, workplace, or café. Our team is happy to help you choose a location that works best for you and your guests.

What is my role in a Friendraiser?

Your main role is easy! You invite the guests!
We take care of the rest. Our team will:

  • Provide snacks and drinks
  • Bring UMWC informational materials
  • Assist with décor if you’d like to add a festive touch

All we ask is that you gather five or more friends and introduce them to us. We’ll handle sharing our mission and explain the many ways people can get involved.

What is the time commitment for hosting a Friendraiser?

  • Hosting a Friendraiser is designed to be simple and flexible. We’ll schedule two virtual planning meetings, each for about 30 minutes, to finalize details and answer any questions.
  • Most Friendraisers last one to two hours—short, sweet, and a lot of fun!
