Food Pantry Workers

Food Drive Coordinator

Interviewer

Health Care Professional
Licensed physicians, nurses, pharmacists, lab techs & health educators needed to provide chronic and acute care.

Front Desk Greeter
Greet and sign in patients, field questions, and generally direct patients’ needs to the appropriate staff.

Eligibility Screener
Determine whether patients are eligible for clinic services through one-on-one confidential interviews (one training session and one “shadowing” session required). Contact: Volunteer@urbanmin.org
Pharmacy Assistant (reserved for individuals interested in pursuing pharmacy or medical school)
Work with licensed volunteer pharmacists to assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications to the patients; locate, count, and label medication for the pharmacist to check; assist with clean up and any other tasks determined by the pharmacists. Contact: Volunteer@urbanmin.org
Medical Interpreter
Spanish fluency with advanced knowledge of medical terminology to interpret in the ODC. (one training session and one “shadowing” session required). Contact: Volunteer@urbanmin.org
Eligibility Interpreter
Advanced Spanish skills to help with interviewing clients and fielding overall questions for Spanish-speaking clients.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Helen Wright Center for Women (emergency shelter and transitional housing program)
Meal Provider Team
Prepare and serve hot meals for 36 shelter guests. Volunteers provide dinner nightly, and breakfast and lunch on weekends.

Client Services Worker
Manage front desk operations and interact with shelter guests informally (talking with residents, playing cards, etc.) Duties can include answering telephones and the door, referring callers to appropriate services when necessary, and verifying residents’ completion of chores.
