Crisis Support
The Crisis Support program works to keep families stable
by providing basic needs, such as medicine and employment assistance, and by promoting solutions to long-term problems.
Prescription Medications
With funding from the Fill in the Gaps (FIGs) program, the CIP is able to help more than 500 people each year obtain prescription medications that are beyond their financial reach.
Employment Assistance
Urban Ministries helps unemployed and underemployed job seekers with resume writing, job readiness classes, and access to job training and supportive services. The Crisis Intervention Program partners with both Jubliee Jobs and the Capital Area Workforce Development Board, and offers access to the JobLink career network.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer training is provided on-site for all new volunteers. We are looking for data entry assistants and client interviewers who can help assess short-term needs. Volunteers are also needed to help receive and sort donations of food and in-kind deliveries at the Food Bank.
For more information about volunteering, see our Volunteers section.
