TRIANGLE POTTER'S GUILD CREATES WONDERFUL NEW PIECE FOR OUR LOBBY!
Triangle Potter's Guild with lobby piece
TPG members hang their creation for us

Each weekday the Urban Ministries lobby is filled with families who come to us for assistance with basic needs. We are pleased to announce that that lobby has recently been graced with a large mosaic object d'art, custom designed by the Triangle Potter's Guild! The piece was created from many unique tiles and even includes our logo and motifs that represent the work we do in the community.

The TPG, as many of you may know, also donates hundreds of hand thrown and decorated bowls for our annual Stone Soup Supper each year.

There are so many ways to give something of yourself to a cause you believe in. We are thrilled that the TPG members have decided to use their creative talents to make the days a little brighter for our staff and clients.

HOW CAN YOU HELP KIDS IN NEED THIS SUMMER? CONSIDER A FOOD DRIVE!
Food Bag

Many children in Wake County rely on receiving a free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch at school. But during the summer months, that safety net is no longer there, and we need even more non-perishable donations than usual for our Pantry. We are currently serving about 40 families a day, and the number of people who have fallen on hard times and need help is only increasing.

Hosting a food drive can be a fun way to teach your own school age children about charitable giving. Please contact Laura Ridgeway, Outreach Coordinator, to learn how your group, congregation, workplace or family can conduct a Food Drive for Urban Ministries: 256-2168 or Lridgeway@urbanmin.org

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

– Mother Theresa

Chicken

Our thanks goes out to everyone who attended the Henside the Beltline Tour d'Coop chicken tour this year – the turnout was amazing – despite some rain – with one coop owner reporting upwards of 1,000 visitors to his home!

The event raised over $5,300 in cash and 2,300 pounds of non-perishable grocery items for our Food Pantry, and also helped get the word out about how we help people here at UM! The food items have been distributed to local families that are struggling through these difficult times.

We are so grateful to be the beneficiary of this fun spring event each year!

Congratulations to Band Together, for raising over $125,000 to benefit the Lucy Daniels Center on June 6th!

Several of our staff and Board members volunteered at the downtown Raleigh concert this year, which showcased great music by Rusted Root, the Rosebuds, HOBEX and Chatham County Line, and also featured a silent auction.
