HONOR CARD ARTIST FEATURED ON NBC NIGHTLY NEWS
Bill (left) in his studio with Brian Williams of NBC.
North Carolina artist William Mangum and the Honor Card program were the subject of the popular NBC Nightly News series Making a Difference on Christmas Eve. The segment features ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help others in their communities. Bill donates the painting that becomes the cover of the beautiful giving cards that are available for a donation during the holiday season through NC organizations that help the homeless. All printing is donated by Wachovia/Wells Fargo. Our program raised over $23,000 in Wake County this year! All funds raised go towards keeping our programs running. Food, fellowship, fun, music and of course, gorgeous hand-made bowls! Our annual fall fundraising event was our most successful so far, raising $28,000 for people in need here in Wake County. Kudos goes to all our generous sponsors, The Triangle Potters Guild, Whole Foods of Cary, First Baptist Church, Laura Ridgeway and Friends, our volunteer event committee and everyone who attended or donated. This year Stone Soup was a green event, using all biodegradable dishes and utensils, with composting of all waste.
We are very grateful to everyone who lended their support. See you all next year!

To everyone who gave financially, bought some Honor cards, donated food for the pantry or personal items for the ladies staying at Helen Wright, or gave your precious time to volunteer...a lot of you really stepped up to help the families in our community who needed it most during the holiday season. You didn't have to...but you did anyway. Please know that your gifts – whatever their size – make a difference in the lives of others.Thank you so much.

“I've never had a doctor as caring as you. Dr. Greenberg you are my hero and I will never forget you. Thank you for saving my life. God bless you.”
 – written by a patient to our Clinic Medical Director Dr. Gary Greenberg.

UM Executive Director Anne Burke recently had a letter to the editor printed in the News and Observer. It was a response to an article detailing the unethically large compensation some non–profit leaders receive. Click here to read Anne's letter.
