Job Description

  • Support the needs of clients to determine appropriate emergency food assistance, prescription assistance and to make referrals to other agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update client information in computer database
  • Conduct interviews to determine food/prescription eligibility
  • Fill out qualification paperwork and have client sign
  • Ask client about dietary needs, complete, and submit food orders to pantry
  • Retrieve prescription information from client
  • Call participating pharmacies for price checks on prescriptions
  • Get approval to fill out a voucher for prescriptions from the supervisor
  • Fill out prescription voucher for client
  • Complete referral forms

Skills Required

  • Computer skills
  • Ability to interview and ask sensitive questions about financial standing
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to talk to pharmacists on the phone
  • Patience
  • Ability to tell a client if they cannot receive assistance
  • Spanish language skills helpful

Training Required

  • Volunteer Orientation
    • RSVP registration
  • 2-3 shadowing shifts

Days and Hours of Operation

  • Monday – Friday
    • 9:00am – 1:00pm
